How to Block Ads in Android Using AdAway
I show you how to install and setup AdAway on any rooted Android device. I find that AdAway works much better than AdBlock and blocks in-app ads and popups which AdBlock didn’t do when I tested it. Again your device needs to be rooted and preferably you will want to use ES File Explorer or another file manager to access the apk.

I think you should defnitiely check iodé out, they block ads & trckers without needing root
No need for rooting anymore. AdAway now supports non-root devices and it does the job pretty well. I've been rooting phones for about 11 years mainly because of ads, but I guess those days are gone.
